I received a Carlos Chavez 50 stick humidor for father's day last; the workmanship is decent, although the interior trim could have used a little more attention. The cedar lining appears to be spanish...no different than my other humis...it's definitely not that red cedar stuff for closets.
It "whooshes" when the lid is dropped, so I assume the seal is good. I use it at home on my rolltop, and refill it from my "serious" humidors and igloodor, which are at the office. The little credo humidifier is adequate since I only keep about 20 sticks in it...but the unadjustable hygrometer is waaaay off!
Anyway, I have no idea what they cost, but it is nicely finished in maple burl and came with a matching cigar ashtray....a lovely gift. I also received a Carlos Chavez "bomb proof" travel humidor tube which holds 4 churchills..it is tough stuff, has an anodized, knurled screw on aluminum cap and a little button humi inside...probably the stoutest travel tube I've seen.
