I started doing another decoupage project for a friend of mine, this thing will take forever. I started with a unfinished table purchased from Target, I wet it down to remove all the dust and shipping material. Followed that with a light sanding and then tack clothed the crap out of it.
I got some of the edges done but with 100% coverage this thing will take forever. I spent about 3 hours on it yesterday, the edges are the hardest part because of the framing I am doing with the Opus X bands. Forbidden Bands with date bands on each corner with Casa Bands wrapped around Opus bands on the outside edges. The middle will be a random assortment of favorites, from ISOM to Tatuaje and even some that you guys may have never heard of. Let me know what you think, my buddies wife is already complaining that she doesn't want it in her house lol. So if all else fails I may raffle it, but the people that donated bands will get a few free raffle tickets. Once it is done I may want to keep it also, I plan on total 100% coverage with bands so it may take awhile. Also I have to poly it once the decoupage part is done. Very nice kp. One of my buddies' wife decoupages cigar boxes with a collage of bands that is way cool. I think your table will be a work of art. Please do keep us updated with pictures of your progress.

Yeah I didn't really know what I was getting into because I did a card table before. This is a coffee table I purchased from Target online. I think it some type of hard wood and assembly was easy. I think the table cost $170.00 by itself. here is the link to the table, dam thing is bigger than i thought. lol

kp, once you get the table covered with bands, what is the next step. Are you going to cover it with some type of clear acrylic? I would like to begin a "winter project" similar to this.

Yep I am going to use a semi gloss polyurethane, multiple layers. Basically apply and sand then apply and sand etc..

a product called mod podge (sp?) or something like that. a water based white glue that dries gloss clear.

hehe I have a done a bit of the top but had to stop due to being way to busy. I have a good 1' of coverage on the top and have developed a cool way of lining the router groves on the top. That will be a shocker to most when they see it. I will post pics this Sunday when I get some time.

thanks, I did mostly the cigar matches in the router cuts yesterday. Just to fill up the space, It is not level but it turned out looking good. Now if I could just find the time to finish the band part that would rule.

Yeah I wish the bands were covering alot of space. I took those pictures with the camera really close to the table. the previous pictures are more to scale of the size of the table. There are numerous bands in the last pictures at least 20 or so.
