Default Humidor Cabinet Construction Plans - May 1, 2009, 02:43 PM

Well, I decided if you want something done right, the best way is to do it yourself! So, I've decided to build my own huge humidor myself with Spanish Cedar.

Now all I need are some detailed construction plans on how to build this humidor. I've searched on google, but couldn't really find anything that I liked. What I am looking for is a nice big humidor about 3 feet wide x 4 feet tall x 2 feet deep.

Anybody out there have any ideas for me, or any construction plans that can help me out?

Step 1.....build with quality furniture grade plywood for the case. Base and molding in matching solids.

Step 2.....line it with Spanish Cedar. SC veneer is a good option to consider.

Well, I JUST NOW received an email from the humidor place where I made an offer, and they said they have now accepted my offer, and are shipping my humidor. CRAP! The reason I'm upset is because they sent me an email yesterday telling me that it was no longer available.

Well, it looks like I am now the proud owner of this thing....

Nothing wrong with owning two humidors............

this one works well to store the smoke now stuff........not quite big enough for the aging stock.

http://stewart-beckwith.com/locker.htm

this one is almost big enough for the stock you want to age.

Do you really think it was a good deal? Well, I hope so. I guess I'll find out when I get it.

Here's the details...

Features

* Holds 1000+ Cigars
* Solid Wood Construction with Maple Veneer
* Lined with Premium Spanish Cedar
* Pull out drawer on metal slide with 1 divider
* Raised Panel Door with Lock and Key
* 2 Adjustable Cedar Shelves in base
* Tarnished Brass Door Hinges and Handles
* 2 Interior A/C Outlets
* One Year Warranty
* 30 Day Moneyback Guarantee

Dimensions: 21"W x 17"D x 26"H

Now I have to find a good Hydrometer (Oops!) I meant Hygrometer! And a humidifier.

Then I have to find some stogies to put in it!

Anyway, I'll take pictures when it arrives, and I'll let you know how it is. Although my opinion on these things may not be too reliable!

That's a good deal based on the specs. You should get a Set-N-Forget humidifcation system for it.

Well, I just received my new Humidor that I ordered, and I LOVE IT!

This thing is made of SOLID WOOD construction, and is completely lined with Spanish Cedar, which makes it smell sooo good! The drawer, and even the shelves are SOLID cedar.

Here are a few pics...

I JUST BROUGHT IT IN FROM THE UPS DRIVER...

AS YOU CAN SEE, VERY WELL PACKAGED...

For only $275, I think I got a heck of a deal. Very sturdy construction.

Today I just ordered the Hydra LG Humidifier w/hygrometer, which should be arriving in a few days. So I guess I'm all set now!

FYI I haven't heard good things about the hydra I heard the break down after a few months...sombody here said theirs leaked I think and they lost a lot of good stix! Not sure if you can back out and get an oasis just wanted to let you know. Search the forum and you can get the specifics...
PS nice humi!

I found out about the Hydra in this forum. I read many posts by people praising the unit. But not 100% praise of course. I also found posts about the cigar oasis and the moist 'n aire units... some good posts and some bad. So, when it was all said and done, I decided to settle on the Hydra. It was only a couple hundred dollars, and it seems to have everything I was looking for.

Do a search for Hydra LG, and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Now I guess I'll find out how reliable it really is. Time will tell.

Thanks for the feedback.

Get in touch with Bob Stabell at Aristocrat Humidors and get yourself a Set and Forget.

Then next time you need a cabinet, get an Aristocrat.

Well, my humidifier/hygrometer arrived today (earlier than expected!), and I just completed installing it. Actually, it fits in there pretty nice.

I have it set at 66%......Is this correct? The factory pre-setting was 70%, but I read in here somewhere that 66% was the perfect setting. Please let me know if that's right.

Now I've gotta go out and score me some stogies to put in there!

Here's a couple pics I just took:

Nice job, where did you get humi I would like to check out site. Setting at 70% or less depends on how you like you'er cigars is fine.
Some guys here like them way lower from what I know as low as 60% , Which I think is a bit low for me. I like them between 66 as a low and 68% as the high side.
I think you should see where you like em 67 would be a good start IMHO :-).

Since another member told me where to buy it, I'll pass the info on to you! Here's the link:

http://www.cheaphumidors.com/Merchan..._Code=Preorder

He lists it for higher, but I offered him $275, and he accepted it.

You said that 67% would be a good start. But what is the difference in the settings? In other words, how will one cigar set at 70% differ from another cigar in a humidor set at 60%?

Sorry if it sounds like I'm stupid, but I am in regards to this.

Any help is appreciated. (I just reset it at 67%)

If set at 70% cigars will be moist and softer and at the high end of there range. If set at 60% they will be hard and at there range on the low end. You would have been fine with 66% as you had it set. I think cigars are frail when set to low. See how you like your cigars at 67% you can go higher or lower . Hope this helps.
